GCBC Youth Learn to Sail Program

2024 Registration is now open!


This summer weekday program is designed for beginners and experienced sailors aged 8 to 15.  All registrants MUST be age 8+ on the first day of their registered week to participate.


Sessions run from 8:30am-4:00pm Monday to Friday.

Cost:  $300/week, $20 discount for members.


We will be offering 7 separate weeks of instruction. All levels of sailing are taught by our instructors each week, and participants will be split into smaller groups based on ability. We offer a range of levels for beginners to more experienced sailors. 


New and beginner sailors should be registered for CanSail 1&2.


Only sign up for CanSail 3&4 if the participant has already received their CanSail 2 level.

Participants are required to bring the following items each day: lunch, snack, water bottle (1 litre minimum), Canadian Dept. of Transport-approved PFD (with whistle attached), hat, sunglasses with tie band, sun screen, towel, swimsuit, extra clothing, rain gear if needed and closed toe footwear for sailing. Water shoes or sneakers are best. Note: these shoes will get wet. (No Crocs, Tevas, or flip-flops for sailing) A second pair of shoes for non-sailing activities is strongly recommended.

    We teach to the standards of Sailing Canada's CanSail program, offering CanSail levels 1 to 4. Participants brand new or beginners to sailing should be signed up under 'CanSail 1&2'. Only register for 'CanSail 3&4' if the participant has already received their CanSail 2 level.

ADULT LEARN TO SAIL

This course is for ages 18 and up. It will run as a single one on one/or two introductory session. Each session is approximately two hours long. You will get constant feedback and suggestions as well as a debrief at days end. 

Note: sessions are weather dependent. Winds must be between 4 knots and 10 knots during the session.

Group Adult Learn to Sail sessions can be arranged for weekends from July 10th to August 15
